The American professional golfer, Dustin Johnson, might never win a major competition ever. He also won’t be able to play in any PGA Tour events since he resigned from the organization before joining the LIV Golf Invitational Series. However, that doesn’t make him less of a player, and he proved it by winning the 2022 Season Individual Champion title of LIV Golf.
Golf Digest revealed that the former world no. 1 earned $31,637,767 from all the last seven events of the Series, including the bonus. According to that data, he won $4,519,681 from each event. Notably, the Series offers $4 million for the winner of each event, and Johnson earned more than that per event by winning the bonus money.

Interestingly, his total earnings from the Series suggest that Johnson earned approximately $1.5 million per round and $22,280 for each shot. And according to worlddata.info, it is nearly 4 times more than the average monthly income of an American, which was approximately $6k in 2021. Notably, the $30 million is the total amount Johnson earned through playing in the LIV events. It doesn’t include the $125 million he reportedly got as the guaranteed money from the company for joining the Series.
Fans reaction to Johnson’s expensive shots at the LIV events
Johnson made multi-million dollars in less than a year. However, he couldn’t earn any OWGR points from those events since LIV Series doesn’t offer any at the moment. While some fans expressed their happiness for the player for his tournament earnings, some pointed out that money shouldn’t be an essential factor in the sport.
And nobody cares – hes irrelevant both as a player and as someone that people would look up to. But so glad to know he’ll be ok now with his personal finances.

Why would anyone feel bad for a guy like DJ with that kind of bank roll? He doesn’t care if he plays in a major again…why should anyone else?

When an organization doesn’t have a budget or bottom-line to be concerned with they can give whatever the f they wish so it’ll look impressive. Good for DJ but means nothing.

And all that money didn’t change his life in one meaningful way.

I don’t find any of that impressive or interesting, why would I care if he gets loads of money. I’d much rather see the best in the world competing against each other.
