There is no shortage of drama and bombshell news in the golf world, is there? After the excruciating delay in the LIV-PGA Tour merger, there have been zero to no updates on it in the past months. However, recently during the Tour Championship Press Conference, the PGA TOUR’s Executive VP & President, Tyler Dennis, clarified the eligibility policy for players who have participated in LIV events.
When asked about the reported one-year ban from PGA TOUR events for players who have played in LIV, Dennis explained, “Yeah, so players that have never played on the TOUR and have no outstanding connection to previous membership, there is a one-year waiting period between when you play in an unauthorized event and being able to return to the PGA TOUR”.
He further described that current and former PGA TOUR members have to follow extra rules. He didn’t say exactly what those rules are, but he made it clear that they’re in place to make sure players behave and follow the TOUR’s guidelines. “Well, players who are members or are members of the TOUR also have all of our tournament regulations and conduct policies applying to them.”

It’s interesting to note that some golfers, like Kevin Na and Dustin Johnson, quit the PGA TOUR before joining LIV to avoid any trouble. Meanwhile, others like Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau didn’t officially resign. But here’s the thing – these new guidelines might just make it easy for them to come back to the PGA TOUR without too much hassle. But that’s not all, the PGA Tour is trying new things as well, to keep the fan following in check.
