Phil Mickelson has some strong rivals who come after him whenever they get the chance. And ever since he joined LIV Golf, his rivals also targeted the Saudi League and the other players in it. To make matters worse, a majority of LIV Golfers have faced a downfall in their rankings after OWGR rejected their plea for ranks.

And recently this gave Mickelson’s arch-media rival Brandel Chamblee a golden opportunity to roast the players. Though this time leaving Mickelson, he took his aim at Dustin Johnson and rubbed some burning pepper on his OWGR wounds through his latest tweet.

For the unversed, after its creation, LIV Golf pleaded with the OWGR to recognize its players for ranking as well. But after a year of the request, it was rejected and the golfers in the Saudi league are facing a steep fall in their rankings. Dustin Johnson, who once used to be in the top 10 players, has fallen out of the top 100 in the world and is currently on 165.

But even this is not a stable number. With no points awarded to him for any of his participation in LIV Tournaments, this number will keep on falling and will be claimed by the players of the PGA Tour. And Chamblee armed himself with this great weapon of ranking to tear down Johnson. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) he shared his own brutal take on his Johnson is reaping what he saw.

As per the golf analyst, the performance of Johnson in the four majors this year was not impressive at all. “He played just four world-class events in 2023. He finished 48th in The Masters, 55th at The PGA Championship, 10th at The US Open, and missed the cut at The Open Championship.”

He moreover added that Johnson knew what he was getting into when he joined LIV. DJ embraced the loss of ranks when he left behind the PGA Tour. His tweet continues, “When you knowingly signed up for a league that doesn’t follow the well-established and known guidelines for world ranking points and you play poorly in the majors, your world ranking should fall accordingly.” The former professional player indeed took a big did on the LIV Golfer and fans are joining him in that.

Fans agree with Chamblee that DJ knew the deal while joining LIV

It was only a few days ago that the 61-year-old analyst requested the Lefty for a debate which he denied and then later the two engaged in a heated burst out about each other indirectly. Now his shot on Johnson is supported by fans.

This fan fully agrees that the Golf Channel Analyst is correct and that DJ knowingly made the decision and he should be content with the consequences.

According to one user, Johnson’s four finishes in the 4 majors were good enough and shows that he deserves to a better rank than 165.

Meanwhile, this fan believes that Wyndham Clarke, who won the event, has made the best preparation, hence he topped the US Open.

Another fan too agreed that Clark played well and deserved to be the winner. Others like Johnson, who did not play that well, were left behind.

This user also shared similar views with Chamblee that DJ knew the drill when he signed LIV’s contract and now there is no point crying over spilled milk.

However, there was one user who took some pains and did some digging on Chamblee’s own golfing record and gave the former golfer a taste of his own medicine with his own not so impressive stats.

Meanwhile, how Johnson reclaims his old spot remains a big question. For now, one and only way for him would be to qualify and perform well at the 4 major tournaments. That could be his ranking salvation. What do you think about Chamblee’s remarks? Let us know in the comments.3
