The DP World Tour is launching its new era with a brand new event: the Dubai Invitational. The inaugural tournament will take place from January 11 to 14, 2024, at the Dubai Creek Resort. The tournament field is dominated by the best golfers from around the world.

The Dubai Invitational is designed to be unique and offer an exciting golfing experience to the players and spectators. The tournament was first announced as part of the 2024 European Tour schedule in August 2023.

2024 Dubai Invitational: Format and star-studded field

The event will be held at a stunning venue that offers a par 71 course that measures 7005 yards. The Dubai Creek Resort also offers a luxury hotel, a marina, a spa, and several restaurants. The field of the tournament is an exciting one too! It is going to be a limited field of 60 professional players. However, the field will also consist of 60 amateur golfers as well. The way they will compete is different!

The professional players will compete for all four rounds, whereas the concurrent tournament for the amateurs will take place for 54 holes. The inaugural event, as of now, will be played biannually. The prize purse that the 2024 Dubai Invitational is offering to the golfers is a whopping $2.5 million.

The field of amateurs is expected to include celebrities, sports stars, and business leaders, including NFL legends John Elway and Larry Fitzgerald Jr. The big names will have the chance to share the greens with some of the best golfers in the world.

The tournament is set to feature some of the best players, including 4x major winner Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, and Tommy Fleetwood. Nicolai Højgaard, Francesco Molinari, Ryan Fox, and Adrian Meronk will also be there. All eyes will be on McIlroy, and he is also excited about the game, “I’m really excited to start my year at the Dubai Invitational. I’ve always enjoyed coming back to Dubai to set up my season, and with a pro-am format, this tournament is going to be an enjoyable week,” said McIlroy.

The Dubai Invitational aims to celebrate the passion of the game. In an interview with the Khaleej Times, Christopher May, the CEO of Golf Dubai, said, “It’s a venue that has a great heritage with professional golf, having previously been the host venue for the Dubai Desert Classic, and will be an incredible asset to the new tour schedule with a finishing stretch of holes that rivals almost any in the world.”

The Dubai Invitational will also offer a range of fun-filled activities. For example, a chipping challenge wherein the spectators can showcase their skills; a kids’ zone that will help keep children entertained; a merchandise tent that will offer an array of golf merchandise such as apparel and accessories; and a variety of scrumptious food options. Apart from glitz and glamour, it will work with the environment as well.
