‘Drunk’ Mom Tries to Defend Her House Using a Not So Violent Golf Club

The sport of golf cannot be played without the presence of clubs. While some players use it to play the 18-hole sport, for others, it’s a weapon. A mother from the city of Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom had to opt for the assistance of a golf club while defending her children from two men. But what unfolded which led to the unpleasant turn of events?

Getting struck with an iron can be one of the worst ways to get hurt. While some use baseball bats as the first way to get rid of house invaders, others also use a golf club to defend their loved ones. Claire Heaton, a 41-year-old mom tried to fight off two brothers from her now ex-lover to save her children.

While the headline may sound overwhelming, the brawl that occurred in the streets of Bentilee in Stoke-on-Trent left a dark picture for neighbors. Before the incident headed to court, let’s take a look at what happened on the night three years ago.

Mother uses a golf club to save her house

Around 7 pm on August 6th, 2020, the neighbors called the police after hearing a disturbance at Bentilee Street. A man with a machete was spotted by the neighbors. The two brothers had arrived to attack Claire Heaton’s boyfriend at the time for a past quarrel. However, she decided to assist her then-lover against the two men.

Heaton, who was reportedly ‘drunk’ during the incident, got hold of a golf club to fight off the brothers. She even shouted at her children to get inside the home. One of the brothers even snatched the golf club from Claire. The incident carried on for around six minutes.

The police arrived at the scene and the incident soon headed to the Stoke On Trent Crown Court. Claire Heaton was handed a 12-month community order and must complete 15 rehabilitation-month community orders as she inserted herself into the brawl. Meanwhile, the other two defendants were handed suspended prison sentences last month.

Heaton has now broken up with her lover after the infamous incident from three years ago. Nonetheless, she has claimed to be in a much better position in life at the moment. While many use golf clubs to swing around the courses, Claire Heaton used them to save her children. Though was it necessary may have been a question, at the end of the day she was just trying to save her loved ones.
