The 2022 BMW International Open is one of the prestigious tournaments on the DP World Tour. The championship began at the Golfclub München Eichenried on June 23. And before the tournament gets its 33rd champion, let’s find out what it offers its players for attending and winning the event.

The total purse of the 72-hole tournament is €2 million. Notably, 16.67% of the purse, the standard amount according to the Tour’s prize money distribution chart, will be presented to the champion.
Furthermore, there are a total of 2750 Race to Dubai points to distribute among the entire field according to their rankings. A cut is made after the first two rounds, making only the top 65 and ties advance to the finals.
The winner’s share and their extra benefits
The purse money is distributed among all the players who last for all the 72 holes. However, there are some benefits that the tournament offers just for its champion.
Apart from €333,330, the winner’s share of the total purse, the champion gets 500 FedEx Cup points. He will also receive 24 Official World Golf Ranking points, which will help him achieve a good ranking.

Notably, the BMW International Open champion will be rewarded with 460 Race to Dubai points. This will help him be a part of the top 5 of the Race to Dubai; a €5 million pool money is waiting for the top 5 at the end of the season.
Venue, field, and more about the championship
A total of 156 players are part of the Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich. Notably, the players are selected for the event by following different criteria. This includes the past champions, Winners of Rolex Series events and WGCs, professional Tournament Invitations, etc.
The Spaniard Sergio Garcia, American Billy Horschel, and South African Louis Oosthuizen are some of the top players that decorate the Germany-based course this week.

The Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland won the event last year. However, he is not a part of the event this week. Notably, only two American golfers had the opportunity to win the title; Paul Azinger in 1990 and 1992 and John Daly in 2001.
