It has been over two weeks since Ted Lasso ended, but fans aren’t ready to bid farewell just yet. One of the very first things Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, did when he arrived to coach AFC Richmond was hanging up a sign right over the door to his office. The sign read, “BELIEVE.” Seven letters, all caps. Jotted down shabbily on a piece of yellow paper and put up with tape.

Throughout its three years run, the simple yet effective word was crucial to the growth of the show’s characters. At many points during the show, Ted motivates his team to believe in themselves and one another, ultimately leading to amazing results. “I believe in believe,” said the much-loved fictional character during one of his particularly moving speeches.

Now, it appears like Sergio Garcia is drawing inspiration from the crucial Ted Lasso tenet about belief as well. In a picture uploaded on his Instagram story, the 43-year-old can be seen tapping a “BELIEVE” sign, much like the characters from the Apple TV+ show.

As the US Open enters its final day, Garcia is currently tied at the 38th position. The golfer’s LACC appearance comes after he failed to get an exemption into the PGA Championship last month.

How has Sergio Garcia fared so far at the US Open?

Unlike many of his other LIV compatriots, Sergio Garcia had to go through a qualification process to earn a spot at the 2023 US Open. This year, a record 10,187 players had registered for the qualifiers, and the Spanish pro was one of them. An impressive performance at the Northwood Country Club last month ultimately helped the golfer become a part of this year’s 156-player field.

However, the Ryder Cup hero has not been able to capitalize on the low-scoring conditions at the LACC. After making the cut at the event, he now sits at T38 with six others, including World No. 2 Jon Rahm. Meanwhile, 2-time major winner Dustin Johnson is the highest-ranked LIV player at T6. Fellow LIV players Bryson DeChambeau and Cam Smith are also among the top 10 players on the leaderboard.

As the tournament enters its final day, Garcia will definitely want to turn things around and end his 2023 US Open campaign on a good note.
