Bryson DeChambeau was one of the biggest stars from LIV Golf to enter the 2023 PGA Championship. His current season was not going at the level everyone would have expected. The 29-year-old’s performance at the Masters and the LIV events that preceded it were not ones to remember! However, following his best finish of the season, 7th, that came at LIV’s Tulsa event, just before the second major of the year, the American’s return to the PGA Championship was highly anticipated.
At Oak Hill, the World No. 90 showcased some of his best golf skills, finishing tied for fourth place, earning himself a huge lump sum of money as well as every LIV golfer’s coveted ranking points! And now, days after his splendid performance, he once again grabs the headlines, this time for his bold comments about none other than the OWGR and the Saudi-backed league’s players qualification to majors!

The Saudi-funded league is now in Washington, DC, for their upcoming event. The players are at Trump National Golf Club for the 54-hole tournament from May 26–28, playing the practice rounds. And ahead of the event, DeChambeau is, of course, the talk of the town considering his current hot streak! And using that attention to point to LIV’s big issue, the one-time major winner recently opened up about a possible solution for the defectors’ qualification in major championships.
NUCLR GOLF recently took to Twitter and posted DeChambeau’s pre-event interview. In the sit-down, the American pro suggests a bold solution for the ease with which LIV players can qualify for majors. According to the 29-year-old, the solution would be to create an “exemption category” for them! He also chimed in about the OWGR and said, “We’ve gone so far down the list now that it’s really difficult to make us even relevant. And I think that was part of their play.”
🚨🗣️ World #90 Bryson DeChambeau says a solution to LIV qualifying for majors would be “creating an exemption category for LIV players based on how they play throughout the year.” He goes on to talk about the OWGR, saying: “We’ve gone so far down the list now that it’s really… pic.twitter.com/RzARQoS7rE

DeChambeau climbed over 100 points to reach the 90th spot on the OWGR this week, but many of his fellow LIV golfers haven’t been so fortunate. With those who jumped ship facing a recession in their world ranking, the long hitter felt like it was necessary to shed light on this issue! But not all in the golf world agreed with the 2020 US Open winner, and fans were quick enough to lash out at him online!
Fans react to Bryson DeChambeau’s concerns
While the one-time major winner expressed his concerns about the LIV golfers’ plight, fans did not seem to be on his side. Flooding the Twitter post with comments, they had some harsh responses to his bold opinions!
Fans trolled DeChambeau for his decision to join the other side, claiming he knew what the move entailed!
They left therefore they no longer enjoy the same privileges. Their moaning about the consequences sounds like a spoiled child. Own your decision and move on.

It’s laughable how every single one of these guys knew all of this would happen if they left. Now it’s happening and they want to complain.

Meanwhile, another fan made the same point, adding his own twist to it.
"Smoking can cause cancer."
"I know. I am still going to smoke."
"I got cancer. I am going to sue someone."— Brian Flaherty (@brianmflaherty) May 24, 2023
One fan provides his own solution to this problem, which is to drop LIV.
Another solution would be to not play liv and if you do, don’t whine about everything that you are missing

Meanwhile, fans laughed at the one-time major winner’s proposed solution.
Hahaha now they want their own special category hahahahaha.

Furthermore, one fan even called all LIV golfers crybabies.
LOL "their" play. He knew the rules and criteria when he left the PGA and now he wants to whine about it. These guys are such cry babies. pic.twitter.com/rXdgPHh5Xn

Another fan took a jibe at the 29-year-old’s current form in the Saudi-funded league.
He should at least have to play good on his own tour first.
