With an energetic start to the year in January, Brooke Henderson must have thought her year on the greens would be just as exciting as her previous seasons. But clearly, after scoring her first season win at the very start of the year, her hopes were all shattered. It’s a curse on the LPGA Tour, and of course, Henderson knows it — the bizarre trend, that no player winning the season opener has gone on to win again in the same year since 2016.

With the LPGA Tour now about to hold its year-end event, Henderson has one last chance to recess the curse and rake in a win. Irrespective of that, prior to the game this weekend, the player has admitted to the odd statistic, adding that it might have affected her mindset throughout the season. Here’s what the player has said.

Brooke Henderson won the Tournament of Champions in January, and since then, the golfer hasn’t secured a second victory this season. It’s been the same with many big names in the past. LPGA Tour faces like Eun-Hee Ji, Gaby Lopez, Jessica Korda, and Danielle Kang, have all fallen victim to the winless year curse, so Henderson joining the squad is not a big surprise.

In a recent interview with a media house, the player was asked about this historical repeat of events on the Tour, and the player answered, “It’s a really weird stat that I don’t like very much.” The golfer thought that she would end this scourge soon this year, but that hasn’t been the case so far. “I thought I would break it earlier. Maybe [it] got in my head a little bit,” Henderson remarked.

The coming CME Group Tour Championship is now the golfer’s final opportunity to break this unusual streak. Henderson, with her booming track record since her rookie season in 2015, is considered a top candidate to actually end this golfing predicament.

Before the showdown, the golfer has made some changes to her equipment sack as well. With her TaylorMades and a good return from the grounds in Florida, the player is going to prepare for her last showdown of the season. While Henderson preps, here’s a look at her performance at her last Annika event.

Henderson made a total of $39,029, and her play included five birdies and three bogeys overall. With her confidence, the player now heads to the CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburon Golf Club, a course where she has a strong history, posting four top-10 finishes in her past five appearances.
