Two of golf’s greatest players, Tiger Woods and Greg Norman, are always portrayed as having a strained relationship. It may be since both of them have competed together at the top ranks. Or it may be because they both prefer. Woods has been a loyal PGA Tour supporter, while Norman has now successfully chosen the opposite side. The speculations about what the LIV Golf CEO feels about Woods are already widespread on the internet. But, to everyone’s amazement, the truth is miles apart from what is perceived by millions.
In an interview with Graham Bensinger back in 2015, Greg Norman talked about his relationship with Woods. While the two golf stars lived near each other, they did not have the chance to connect personally. “I would not have said a word to Tiger in 10 years,” Norman revealed. But he cheekily added that they both said a total of four words during the President’s Cup at Royal Melbourne.
When Norman moved to the area, he reached out to Jack Nicklaus. Talking about the incident, the LIV CEO referred to reaching out as his “responsibility.” He hinted that it was the only right thing to do as the Golden Bear is a “figurehead” in the sport, and any interaction with him is a special and insightful one. Norman spoke about how interacting with each other is part of the game, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. However, he sure did not have the same thing to say about the 15-time major champion.

The golf veteran shared that it was surprising for him that they did not interact with each other, given that they lived close (within half a mile) to each other. Concluding his thoughts about the 47-year-old, Norman said, “I don’t have anything against Tiger Woods.” Hearing this, the interviewer spoke about the “perceived rift” between them, to which Norman had a fair answer.

The LIV Golf CEO did clear the air about the strained relationship between him and Woods. Greg Norman shared that, as per him, the rivalry between the two is something that is just portrayed by the media. He again reiterated that he had never spoken to the golfer, and it is unfair to have a predetermined notion about the rivalry between them. He claimed there had not been enough interaction between him and Woods to have any clashes.
Since the past couple of years, the two have taken opposite ends of the LIV vs. PGA Tour debate. Norman went to make a nasty remark about Woods’ Nike collaboration, calling them ‘boudoir slippers’.
