Is Donald Trump team PGA or team LIV Golf? The 47th POTUS has been dragged into the conversation ever since he hosted the PIF-PGA Tour merger meeting. While everyone appreciated Trump for availing the White House for the meeting, the sentiments changed drastically soon after. Apparently, Yasir Al-Rumayyan felt insulted by the offer proposed by Jay Monahan & the PGA Tour to complete the merger. And Mr. President was pushing for the PIF Governor to accept the terms.

This is when the rumors began that Donald Trump was on the PGA Tour’s side all along. Despite his close connection with LIV Golf, it was the American League that he favored in the end. Around that time, Rory McIlroy revealed how the POTUS was much closer to PGA Tour star. This was a major surprise considering the friendship he shares with Crushers GC Captain, Bryson DeChambeau. It was always assumed that DeChambeau was the closest professional golfer to Trump.

However, now it seems that Trump is back in favor of LIV Golf. White House Correspondent, Libbey Dean shared a tweet giving the community an update about the President’s upcoming schedule. She said, “Scoop: President Trump is expected to attend LIV golf tournament being hosted at his club in Doral, FL next weekend, per a source familiar with the plans.” Yes, despite the unpleasant conversation last time around, President Trump will be in attendance for LIV Golf Miami.

Does this really mean the POTUS is backing LIV Golf again? Bryson DeChambeau and Co. will find this news to be quite encouraging considering the fact that the 2x U.S Open Winner is close friends with Trump. However, we might only know about that in certainty in the next few days. But is his appearance at LIV Golf Miami really that big of a news? That may not be the case.

Donald Trump’s LIV Golf attendance

LIV Golf Miami will be hosted in one of President Donald Trump’s courses, the Trump National Doral, Miami. Being one of the best courses in the President’s catalog, it has always seen great attendance from the golf community. And Trump himself has also not shieded away from attending LIV Golf Miami tournaments in the past.

The President was in attendance at the event in 2024 as well. Many news outlets had reported that he would be attending the event on his course last year as well. While his support for LIV Golf has always been evident, the 47th POTUS’s visit to Trump National Doral might not be related to his stance on the merger. In fact, being the founder of Trump Golf, his presence in a major event in the Saudi-based league’s calendar on his course is a given.
