Never a dull day in the world of golf, more so when John Daly is around. Other than his flamboyant lifestyle, and larger-than-life persona, Daly is also quite notorious for his unhealthy lifestyle. His obsession with Diet Coke is the infamous love story of the golf world. But what if we tell you that Donald Trump is a bigger fan of Diet Coke than Daly, would you believe that?

In an interview with Tucker Carlson on YouTube last year, when asked how many diet cokes he drinks per day, Daly had quite an answer. According to the golfer, when it comes to Diet Coke, he thought he was a heavyweight contender. But as it turns out, Donald Trump takes the cake, or rather the can. “Not as many as Daddy Trump my god I thought I could drink them but man he can drink them,”  said Daly. And it is true. The former U.S. President Donald Trump’s diet coke obsession is pretty well known. Even Vanity Fair reported that Trump was seen dozing off during a trial because of his 12 diet coke deprivation.

He used to keep with Trump’s pace by downing at least 20-22 Diet Cokes a day, but lately, he has scaled back. Why? Well, the golfer was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer a few years ago after which he scaled back on drinking coke and smoking. When asked how many diet cokes he can drink now, Daly said that his doctors don’t allow him to drink any. “He don’t want be drinking any.” Upon hearing that, Carlson went ahead and asked the obvious, “Is it bad for you?”  to which Daly replied, “For bladder, yeah.”

Daly drinking 20–22 diet cokes per day is not as shocking as what he said next. “I’d probably outlast a camel when it comes if I have to drink water; I can’t stand water,” said Daly, and yes, you read that right. This is not the first time the golfer has revealed his hatred towards the one thing humans can’t survive without, i.e., water.

John Daly’s take on his unhealthy habits

The golf pro revealed a lifetime of alarming choices, which started with smoking at just 19 years old. “I started smoking at 19. I smoked for almost 29 years. I smoked about the same as a book—two packs, two and a half packs a day,” revealed Daly. But that was only half the story.

The golf pro would swing by McDonald’s three to four times a day in his young days and indulge in a hefty amount of food. “I went to McDonald’s three, four times a day. They always had the best fountain drink, Diet Coke,”  said the golfer. It’s a big surprise that despite these habits and diabetes, the golfer is still somewhat healthy, which may be because he is still active on the course. He hates to exercise and says that it makes him “throw up.”

The PGA Tour pro was last seen hitting the balls at the Norwood Hills Country Club. While his last PGA Tour Champions victory was recorded at the 2017 Insperity Invitational, the fans believe Daly still has what it takes to be champion. So, do you think the golfer can win another tournament? Let us know in the comment section below!
