Professional golfers have a long history of not only striving for esteemed titles but also contributing to society with their philanthropic inclinations. Xander Schauffele has his namesake, the Xander Schauffele Family Foundation; Adam Hadwin has the Hadwin Family Foundation; Phil Mickelson founded the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation; and so on.

Each of these celebrity golfers found a cause that was close to their hearts and dedicated resources to community outreach. The defending champion at the 3M Open in the Twin Cities has a cause that he believes in, as do his friends. Let’s see what one such close buddy of his, the Utah-based PGA Tour pro Patrick Fishburn, has to say about this!

Patrick Fishburn was speaking to a reporter at the 3M Open when the media personnel pointed out that the golfer was wearing the logo of Tony Finau on his left sleeve. Upon being asked about his relationship with the prolific golfer, Fishburn replied that he grew up playing alongside the 6-time PGA Tour winner. The two golfers were playing the junior circuit, and Fishburn was in awe of Finau, who hit a ball 350 yards when he was just “14 years old.

Fishburn shared, “The great thing about Tony is that he’s always been a great guy.” He also explained that Finau’s charitable organization, the Tony Finau Foundation, which is dedicated to children’s development and the empowerment of families, is “doing amazing stuff for so many people.

It’s kinda like a — it’s called the mentoring program,” Fishburn said. “He picked me a few years ago and kind of a tighter connection and help out with some expenses and things like that.

The golfer from Utah seems to take great pride in working with Tony Finau and his foundation to better the lives of so many individuals. The cause is certainly a noble one. And the two golfers, who have shared a very close bond since their early days, are doing their part for their community. Their act of charity only adds to the fact that golf is rapidly growing into a sport that gives back!
