It cannot be denied that Jon Rahm joining LIV has changed the dynamics of the golf world. After the Spaniard slipped from their hands, the PGA Tour is once again reliving its nightmare and under the constant threat of losing another worthy player to the rival league. And one of the most latest names to make rounds about the rumors of switching was Tony Finau.

However, he put an end to the rumors by proving his allegiance to the PGA Tour. But some people on the other side think that Finau would have made a terrific addition to their team and harbor the hope of still having him on their side.

The loss of Finau was heartily felt on LIV’s newest podcast, Fairway to Heaven.  In the latest episode, Ann Heng discussed Finau’s Instagram post from LIV Golf’s perspective.

She said that many players who earlier swore by the traditional tour ended up making the switch. Heng said “By the way with Finau putting that post up. That doesn’t mean, he’s not coming over. I mean, we’ve seen a few players that have said, it’s not really for me right now. My loyalty, stays with the PGA, whatever.”

According to the commentator, players realize that the Saudi-funded league is more fun. Adding on to the other factors that might change golfers’ minds, she said, “Maybe they just realized that this team thing is fun and maybe they’ve watched a bit of the broadcast, maybe they’ve seen a bit more of the format.”

With her stern remarks, Su-Ann Heng has reignited the tamed-down rumors of Finau going over to the other side. Last week Tony Finau participated in the historic Grant Thornton Invitational, but aside from the event he was also making rounds in the news for being the next player to join LIV. But to the utter relief of the PGAT and fans, Finau effectively shut down these rumors with a strong post.

Finau’s strong reaction against the defection rumors

After finishing the Grant Thornton, Finau shared a post on Instagram in which he wrote about how 2023 was one of the most memorable seasons. The golfer grabbed his 6th win on the Tour at the Mexican Open and reached the tour championship for the 7th year in a row. As his 9th year on the Tour came to an end he expressed gratitude for the opportunity of playing in such esteemed events. Then he wrote – “I’m excited for 2024 and looking forward to playing my 10th season on the PGA Tour!”
