Vijay Singh is the biggest rival of Tiger Woods, and he leaves no opportunity to sideline him. An incident from the 2002 Skins Game is evidence of this fact. It also included the former caddie of Woods, Steve Williams.

It was during the unofficial-money event of the PGA tour, the 2002 Skins Game when an incident shocked everyone. Tiger Woods was on a crucial shot. He dug deep into the bunker to position himself and caught the grip. The golfer then waggled his sand over the ball. It was a pin-drop silence; no spectator was cheering because that is how crucial that shot was.

However, suddenly, out of nowhere, a sound of ‘click’ cut through the silence, followed by an even more disturbing sound of ‘splash.’ At Landmark Golf Club, Steve Williams tossed a fan’s camera on the 18th green.

What happened after that? What did Vijay Singh comment about the incident? Let’s find out.

What did Vijay Singh say about Tiger Woods?

The fan was taking premature pictures of Woods, and the golfer’s concentration on the shot was disturbed. Former number one golfer’s former caddie, Williams, took the matter into his own hands and threw the camera into the pond on the golf course. After the incident, Williams received criticism for taking the law into his hands and Woods for not uttering a word. However, the most significant criticism came from his rival, Vijay Singh. He said“It may have been a spur of the moment, but I cannot say it was good what he did. If my caddie did that, I’d make him fish it out of the lake.”

According to him, “Just because he’s Tiger Woods’ caddie doesn’t give him the right to do that,” Singh did not appreciate the actions. Because Williams was Woods’ caddie, it does not mean he had the liberty to do anything he wanted. It was wrong on his part, and if Singh’s caddie had done the same, he would have no spared him. Singh took a jab on the major championship winner about how he did not stop his caddie from taking drastic steps. Nor he punished him after the incident.

However, it wasn’t just Williams who was at fault. It was that fan, too. No one knew who he was, but he was not allowed to bring a camera. According to rules, they prohibited cameras inside the rope; but the fan could sneak the camera into the golf course. However, not following the rules backfired on him after a period.
