It’s that time of the year again. After a successful 2024 season, Greg Norman’s LIV Golf is moving on to the next by opening the doors to new players to gain a lucrative contract. The 2024 LIV Golf Promotions event is scheduled for December 12-14, and it will see an exciting contest between fairly unknown pros.
Every pro will be eager to give their best and win a shot to play alongside Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, Bryson DeChambeau, and more of the best LIV Golf has to offer. So what challenges can they expect to face at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia?
As per the official website of LIV Golf, the event will feature 93 of the best players from 30 different countries around the globe. They will be divided into two categories: A & B. 64 Category A players will play the first qualification round of the Promotions event on December 12, 2024. The top 20 players at the end of round 1 will progress to the 2nd round on the next day.

On December 13, the top 20 Category A players will be joined by Category B players who were exempt from the first round. The scores of the Category A players will reset, and they will compete with the exempt players for the top 20 spots in Round 2. They will play 18 holes throughout the day, and the best will then progress to round 3.

The final day of the event will have two rounds of a total of 36 holes. As the scores reset again for rounds 3 and 4, it will be an intense battle of wits, with the winner bagging $200,000 prize money from the $1.5 million purse. The person will also receive the opportunity to get signed by a LIV Golf team. Moreover, the other top 10 players on the list, including tied players, will be exempt from all the events in the 2025 International Series season.

So how do they determine Category A & B players? Let’s find out.
LIV Golf: qualifiers and exemptions
Category A players will mainly include amateur golfers who will be looking to get into the professional circuit. This includes members of the Walker Cup and Palmer Cup teams, winners and runner-ups of signature and major amateur events, high-ranked players on the WAGR and TUGR lists, the top 40 from the International Series 2024, and the top 5 in the Japan, Korea, Sunshine, and Australasia Tours.

Category B will include 2 of the top 15 WAGR and 15 of the top 150 TUGR players. It will also include those ranked from 2 to 8 in the 2024 International Series and the top three players from Japan, Korea, Sunshine, and Australasia Tours. Moreover, the leading 5 from the top 30 in the DP World Tour, winners of the International Series, Asian, Japan, Korea, Sunshine, and Australasia Tours in 2024, winners of the PGA & DP World Tour in 2023 and 2024, Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup participants and winners of majors from 2019–2024, and relegated players can also qualify in this category.
Both categories can also include players who have received invitations from LIV Golf to participate in the event. With such large qualification lists, many pros from around the world will get equal opportunities to shine and earn big by joining Greg Norman’s LIV Golf.
