Although there is no prize money being offered on the Ryder Cup, the amount of glory and honor that is put on the line is more than enough for a golfer to want to play in the biennial event. The same is the case with Bryson DeChambeau, the LIV golfer who faded away to outside the top 100 in the world rankings after he joined hands with the Saudi-backed league.

Nevertheless, he has been making waves in the golf world as the professional clinched the much-anticipated title at the LIV Golf event in Chicago, emerging victorious over many, including the Ryder Cup-bound Brooks Koepka. Even so, the defector’s eyes were on a different trophy, one that was out of his reach, as the 30-year-old disclosed a surprising revelation regarding Zach Johnson and his picks for the upcoming showdown, a “stinging” truth of sorts!

Registering his second victory of 2023 on the PIF-funded league, DeChambeau was able to propel himself past the field of 48 golfers to win the LIV Golf Chicago event. What’s more, he was able to take home the winner’s cut from the $25 million prize pool. But even as he won the event, his focus was on the upcoming patriotic competition and the captain of the US team as he took to an interview post the match.

In the press conference, the 8X PGA Tour winner mentioned how “it would have been nice to at least get a call” while pointing out that his current performance was better than his gameplay at the Winged Foot Golf Club where he won his first major in 2020, the US Open. Moreover, the 1X major winner also opined that Johnson should have reached out to more people from the Saudi-backed league.

Adding on to his divulgence, DeChambeau made sure to support his American counterpart Koepka ahead of the biennial event, who finished at T26 in the Chicago tournament at a score of 208 (-5).

Nevertheless, the 30-year-old disclosed how it “does sting a little bit” while alluding to the wild card picks. “I personally think that given the way I played this week, I could have definitely racked up some points for Team USA,” continued the golfer as he exuded nothing short of confidence after his LIV win.
