At the inception of LIV Golf, many golfers had jumped ship from the PGA Tour to the Saudi-backed league, drawing much harsh criticism from the golf world. And topping this list of golfers is none other than Phil Mickelson. He has since turned out to be, arguably, one of the most controversial active golfers these days.

Although he amassed a wide fan following with his 31-year-long career, his switch to the Saudi-backed tour turned many against him. Everyone had something or other to say about him or against him. This stands true even now, as golf queen Paige Spiranac opened up about the golfer unexpectedly on her podcast. However, her words were far from being against Lefty!

The social media influencer often takes to her social media handles and podcasts to keep her fans updated about the sport. In the recent episode of her podcast, Playing a Round with Paige, she has opened up about a lot of things, but what has caught the community’s eye, or in this case, ears, is her current opinion on the LIV star. She talked about his transformation as a person and how it has affected his image.

Unwrapping her opinion on her podcast, she mentioned how people loved the old version of Phil Mickelson, where he was the man of the people with smiles all around. But, contrary to others views, the golf diva prefers the new version, where he likes to be outspoken. She said, “I actually much prefer Phil and his true form…” as she mentioned his transformation, after which she continued, “And we have seen him over the last couple of years since going to LIV where he just does not give two f**ks”.

Spiranac also went ahead to compare him to Tiger Woods, as she mentioned how the 15-time major winner was seen as a more scary and intimidating person as opposed to the 53-year-old golfer. His ‘don’t care’ attitude is what clicks with Spiranac. Moreover, she expressed her admiration for the man as he went ahead to embrace his true form, one in which he is outspoken and harsh rather than being a people-pleaser.

Mickelson’s new ‘don’t care’ vociferous side

Now famous for his tweets, the left-handed golfer expressed his pleasure with the merger when it was announced. Moreover, being one of the loudest cheerleaders of LIV Golf, Mickelson has not let go of any opportunity to support the league and back his fellow defectors. He has been very outspoken in this regard, as he regularly lashes out against the PGA Tour when he gets the chance. The LIV advocate had recently taken a dig at the association for putting forth incorrect numbers with regard to paying the players.

Although Phil came onto the scene highly talented and friendly to watch, he underwent a transformation where he became much more forthright with his opinions and attitude. His brutal honesty regarding the PGA Tour and his LIV defection were especially controversial, as they made huge waves in the golf world.
