Nelly Korda's private life—Does her focus on golf mean she's not ready for kids yet?

When discussing the current state of golf, one name invariably stands out: Nelly Korda. Presently ranked as the world number one, Korda has achieved significant milestones in 2024. She joins the ranks of golf legends Nancy Lopez, who accomplished a similar feat in 1978, and Annika Sorenstam, who did so during the 2004-05 season, as one of only three LPGA pros to win five consecutive starts.

When someone rises to fame, curiosity naturally extends to their personal life. This curiosity also surrounds Nelly Korda, prompting questions such as whether she has children.

While Nelly Korda hasn’t started a family of her own, she deeply cherishes her furry companion as if it were her child. Numerous online photos attest to her profound affection for her dog, likely a doodle breed.

Further touching on family matters, Nelly Korda recently became an aunt when her elder sister Jessica Korda, a six-time LPGA Tour champion, welcomed her son Greyson John DelPrete on February 3, 2024, bringing immense joy to the Korda family.

In an Instagram video shared by the LPGA Tour, Nelly Korda affectionately expressed her feelings about the newest addition to the family. She humorously said that her nephew is “the sole reason” behind her “three-hour drive” to her sister’s residence. She also happily noted his robust health, describing him as “a chunker,” indicative of his healthy appetite. While Korda isn’t a mother yet, she does share her life with Andreas Athanasiou, a Canadian NHL player.

How is Nelly Korda’s relationship with boyfriend, Andreas Athanasiou?

Nelly Korda and Andreas Athanasiou began dating in 2019 and have been spotted together on numerous occasions. One notable instance was during the 2021 Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan, where Athanasiou showed his support for Korda at Blythefield Country Club during her victory. At the time, Athanasiou, then 29, expressed his excitement on Instagram, calling it, a “Great couple of weeks!”

Their relationship is evidently a strong, mutual bond, as Korda herself doesn’t shy away from supporting Athanasiou. During the 2022 Canadian Women’s Open, she sported a Chicago Blackhawks jersey on the 17th hole, a nod to Athanasiou’s $3 million deal with the Blackhawks. Despite occasionally sharing photos together, the fourteen-time LPGA Tour winner remains discreet about their relationship. Whether they will continue to support each other in their respective fields throughout the remainder of 2024 remains to be seen.
