Throughout his career, Jon Rahm has enjoyed unwavering support from his wife, Kelley Cahill, who has stood by him steadfastly through triumphs and criticisms. Even after his controversial move to LIV Golf, Cahill has been his constant companion, offering unwavering support as he faced intense public scrutiny. A dedicated fan, she is always present to cheer him on, both personally and professionally.
But does she also play golf? Not really. The Oregon native has been an athlete for the majority of her life, but golf has never been her focus. When she was a student at Chaparral High School, the 30-year-old played tennis and reached as high as the 9th rank in the state of Arizona. Thus, Cahill has always been competitive. She once challenged Rahm in a tennis game as well.
Cahill told the San Diego Union-Tribune about the match and revealed how shocked she was as Rahm started killing forehands, crosscourt zingers, and whatnot. Eventually, he defeated her, and she expressed, “I was actually mad for a day or two. We have not stepped foot on a tennis court since.” The Spaniard later told Golf Digest that he never shared it with Cahill, but he has played many sports with rackets and thus he was a better tennis player than the high school star.

But tennis had not been the only sport that Cahill pursued in her life. After she graduated from high school in 2012, the 30-year-old turned to a completely different sport, one where Rahm could never beat her.
What sport did Kelley Cahill play at the university?
Kelley Cahill and Jon Rahm met at Arizona State University, where the Spaniard was on a scholarship pursuing golf and his wife was on the track and field team. Cahill used to throw the javelin for ASU; her best record was at the PVCC Outdoor, where she shot the javelin at 34.51 m. Her strength was commendable, and even Rahm was left speechless.

Given that, the Oregon native also entertains herself with football. Although he could defeat her in tennis, Rahm felt a little intimidated by Cahill when she played javelin throw or football. He told Golf Digest, “She has a lot more overhand strength than I do. And I didn’t want to injure myself,” and he never challenged her to a match.
In another Instagram post of the Spaniard dating back to 2017, the 2-time major winner showed Cahill’s true football skills. Left impressed with her throw, the LIV pro said, “Yes she throws a mean spiral!! I better stick to golf.” Currently, Cahill is expecting her third child with Rahm, as the two announced their pregnancy in March 2024. Other than this, Cahill’s professional life has been undisclosed, but for the past years, she has been a permanent at Rahm’s events and an anchor for him through the struggling times.
