Having turned professional in 1980, Fred Couples has had an illustrious career, winning 15 PGA Tour titles and 14 senior championships. His biggest achievement was definitely wearing the iconic Green Jacket in 1992. He also managed to nearly win for the second time in 1998, falling one stroke short of equaling Mark O’Meara. At 65, Couples has built a legacy for himself. Participating in his 40th Masters Tournament in 2025, he is one of the most respected golfers at Augusta National. His legacy is truly unmatched. Fred has been married thrice. In 1981, he got married to Hollywood actress Deborah Couples, but the two got divorced in 1993. Deborah passed away in 2001 in Claremont, California. 5 years after his divorce from Deborah, Couples tied the knot with Thais Baker.

Baker was a model who had moved to Milan, Italy, to pursue her dream. Sadly, she succumbed to breast cancer on February 17, 2009. She was still married to the golf legend when she took her last breath. Through Baker, Couples was a stepfather to Gigi and Oliver.

In 2022, the 14x PGA Tour winner married his long-time girlfriend Suzanne Hanneman. Hanneman also had another child from her previous relationship, Hunter. Hunter Hanneman and Fred Couples also played together in the 2024 PNC Championship. You’ll be shocked to know that when Hunter’s mom first started dating Fred Couples, he didn’t exactly realize that his future stepfather had a Green Jacket.

“I had no clue,” said Hannemann, ahead of their debut in the PNC Championship, “I don’t think I watched a single minute of golf in my life before he came in. But eventually, like, I started realizing he’s a big deal and he can play.”

The golf legend called the 16-year-old a ‘silent assassin’ on the course. The compliment is justified considering how Hunter took everyone by surprise.

The golfer enjoyed the 2024 PNC Championship thoroughly. He had mentioned how he had always been an admirer of the tournament. Getting the chance to participate in it, the 65 stated that he was “having a blast” at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
