The Ryder Cup hustle-bustle has finally come to an end. After Europe’s 16.5-11.5 victory on Sunday, the Roman greens roared with celebration. This year’s ground proved to be a base for redemption for many players. Where players like Rory McIlroy were able to redeem their past disappointments, many from the American Team weren’t able to do so. One such case was with Justin Thomas.
JT made it to the Ryder Cup team based on his past experience and his team-building capabilities. After this year’s early slump, the Ryder Cup was a space for JT to redeem himself and show the golf world his prowess. JT has now made a major confession following the disappointing show.

Team United States’ performance at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club has become a point of discussion in the golf world. On the Roman greens, where Team Europe was able to regain the Cup after a humiliating defeat last time around, Team America was criticized for being unable to secure a win on European soil yet again.
The team’s performance has been talked about as much as the players’ individual performance. Justin Thomas contributed 1.5 points to the team’s score, and other players like Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth, who were expected to be major contributors, did not perform as anticipated. Koepka was surprisingly underutilized, and Spieth expressed concerns about the extended break affecting his game.
Despite the challenges faced by Team USA, some players still managed to shine during the Ryder Cup matches. Max Homa emerged as the top performer for the American team, securing 3.5 points out of five, showcasing consistent and impressive play.
The day after the Sunday singles, Justin Thomas shared a carousel post with the fans on his Instagram. The post is a series of pictures from the Roman grounds, and the PGA player wrote his thanks in the caption. Mentioning how close the US Team is and talking about their Ryder Cup gameplay, JT added, “…You win as a team, and lose as a team. Wish we would’ve played better, but I’d do it all over again with these guys every single time.”
Further, talking about how well the opposing team played, JT continued, “Congrats to @rydercupeurope on the victory, they played incredible… a little too well in my personal opinion 😂” He concluded by adding a little something for the European crowd as well, stating, “Thanks to the European fans for a great atmosphere as always.”

The American fans had great hopes for JT’s comeback after the slump. But, the results of this year’s Ryder Cup ended up disheartening them. JT played four matches, out of which he won just one.
At the Friday fourball matches, JT played with Jordan Spieth against Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton. The match was halved, giving the Americans their first points, but Europe remained up 4½–½. During Day 2, JT lost both the matches he played, and on Day 3 in the singles, he was able to win against Sepp Straka. His overall record this season is 1-2-1.
