Ever since his professional debut in 2007, Dustin Johnson had been a prominent name on the PGA Tour. However, his shift to the controversial LIV Golf has opened doors for a mixed bag of opinions. While many have called him out for his shift, others have backed his $125 million worth decision.

While Johnson has been pocketing hefty paychecks at the Saudi Arabia-backed league, his decision also has a downfall. With his shift, he is no longer permitted to compete in any of the PGA Tournaments, including the prestigious Presidents Cup. A fact, that has left his former countryman, Collin Morikawa, in an emotional state.
Collin Morikawa missing Dustin Johnson at Presidents Cup
On the 21st of September, a day before the start of the 2022 Presidents Cup, debutant Collin Morikawa attended the pre-tournament press conference. During the press conference, he opened up about his love for Dustin Johnson. “I miss DJ. I’ll be honest,” he said.
Last year, Morikawa and Johnson teamed up for the Ryders Cup. While Morikawa enjoyed partnering with the former World No. 1, it wasn’t the only reason for him missing Johnson.
Going further, the former PGA and Open Championship winner asserted, “He is, obviously last year at the Ryder Cup was amazing but…he’s just a good guy to hang around.”

Morikawa’s emotional foot opened the room for a Twitter banter. While a large section criticized the PGA Tour for suspending the LIV players, another section backed Johnson for his shift to LIV Golf.
A section called out LIV Golf for damaging the sport, while another section criticized Johnson for his move.
Twitter reacted to Johnson’s decision
Taking to the comments section of the tweet, a user wrote, “DJ won’t be playing in any of these events again. He knew the decision he was making.”

Walking on the same path as above, another fan of Johnson extended his support to the former Masters and US Open champion.
We all miss him. Oh wait he still plays.

Opposing to the section supporting Johnson’s move, a section called out Johnson, taking digs at his move to LIV Golf. One of the Tweets read:
Dj is more concerned about selling out for high paying exhibition golf

While the above mentioned fans spoke about Dustin Johnson, another set of fans called out the PGA Tour and the USPGA for its suspending decision. They wrote:
I think the uspga have to sit in a cold room and think 💭, we’ve had the monopoly for 30yrs plus and LIV could be helpful for the game of golf ⛳️ younger viewers, new starts etc etc

And he’s only not there out of pure pettiness. He absolutely should be on the team. This event is a joke with Smith and Niemann on the International Team.

For that I'm officially rooting for team international

Having a contrary stand, a couple of users also called out LIV Golf, with an hope to see players coming back soon to the PGA Tour. One of them wrote:
It’s sad what LIV has done to damage golf. Hopefully it will fold soon (in < 2 years) and a process can begin to allow the defectors to return to the @PGATOUR
