Thompson was recently held under scrutiny for her bold comments about LIV Golf and its possible role in women’s golf. In addition to this, Thompson also recently broke a long-lasting career dry spell through the same hard work. The fact that the pro golfer defeated destiny with her sheer skill and untamed efforts is what appeals to her followers the most.
Lexi Thompson and her “distasteful” comments about LIV
Thompson is known for her skill in the sport of golf. She is, no doubt, one of the most prominent names in the world of golf. Naturally, her opinions when it comes to the ongoing controversy about the future of LIV Golf count.
Thompson’s comments in her post-win press conference were deemed to be “distasteful” by prominent LIV Golf critic Lynch. Her career dry spell did not end without leaving a world of voices after what she said.
Lynch said, “I was struck by Lexi’s comments afterward where she said, of the sponsors, what they are doing is ‘amazing’ and they ‘are giving girls opportunities’ they are ‘growing the game’ and we’re ‘very grateful’ which seems to me a little bit distasteful to lay it on when you are talking about a regime with a record of Saudi Arabia and its state-owned oil company sponsoring the event.”
He added: “All it does is prove, I think if there is ever some kind of alignment between Golf Saudi or LIV Golf and the LPGA Tour if that threat arises, anyone who expects to see more evidence of a moral compass on the LPGA Tour is probably going to be disappointed.”
The introduction of LIV to the forefront has changed a lot in the world of golf. With every passing day, things evolve in this game, and LPGA is not out of the picture, clearly.
Lexi puts an end to her career dry spell
Thompson has a long history of success. The pro golfer was the youngest golfer ever to play in the U.S. Women’s Open. She was just 12 when she achieved the aforementioned title.
Recently, the pro golfer broke a major career dry spell where she failed to win for almost 3 years. Thompson won the LET’s Aramco Team Series event on Saturday at Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in The Bronx with a three-under-par 69. The World No. 8 won by three shots over Brooke Henderson (68) and Madelene Sagstrom (69) after taking a two-stroke lead with a 65 on Friday.
Lexi said, “I’ve been working extremely hard on my game. I felt like it was a matter of time, but I just wanted to play golf and put myself in contention in the final rounds and learn from the losses that I had and what I needed to work on, and I brought that into today.”
She shared her outputs in a recent interview. Lexi detailed her fearless play of golf this time around. Probably, good things are on way for Thompson after breaking this long curse.
