The young genius, Bobby Jones, was born on March 17, 1902, in Atlanta. The golfer’s first victory came at just six when he won his first tournament at East Lake Country Club. In the 1920s and early 20s, Jones ruled the sport and was regarded as the most outstanding amateur golfer ever. Between 1923 and 1930, Jones was on his way to becoming the greatest golfer with his feats. He won 13 major championships in eight seasons. He had emerged victorious in five U.S. Amateurs, four U.S. Opens, three British Opens, and one British Amateur.

On September 27, 1930, he became the first golfer to achieve the highest honor in the golf world. He won all four golf major tournaments and earned the “Grand Slam” of golf. At just the age of 28, in 1930, he retired from competition to devote more time to his family and his law practice.
