Are the Korda siblings facing a streak of bad luck, or is this just part of sports?

If you’re a Nelly Korda fan, some saddening news is on your way. On one side, her brother, Sebastian Korda, is taking a break from tennis owing to his surgery. Now, it appears the female golfer will have to experience a similar fate. Confused? Much to her misfortune, the 2024 Chevron Championship winner seems to have suffered an injury, forcing her to take a small break from the greens.

The 26-year-old shared a story on her Instagram handle while mentioning the same. “I wanted to share an update regarding my upcoming schedule. Unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from the LPGA events in Korea and Malaysia due to a minor neck injury I sustained while practicing,” wrote Korda. It appears she wouldn’t be teeing off at the upcoming BMW Ladies Championship or the Maybank Championship, set to kick off at Seowon Hills and Kaula Lumpur, respectively.

That’s not all. The golfer also divulged how upset she is to her fans and the LPGA Tour for withdrawing from the tournaments. “I’m disappointed to miss these events and am especially sorry to my fans who were looking forward to see me play,” said Korda as she revealed how she is working to get better. “I’m currently resting and working with my team to get better. Thank you for all your support; it truly means the world to me.”

It’s natural for you to be curious as to whether she would tee off in the remainder of the Asian Swing. Especially so since Korda has only disclosed how she wouldn’t be teeing off at the next two events in South Korea and Malaysia. Well, the 2-time major champion’s name is still not a part of the entries for the event that will kick off in Otsu-shi, Shiga, Japan. So the fans might have to wait a bit and see if the golfer would actually be available for the final stop of the LPGA Tour’s Asian Swing. Notably, she sat out of the LPGA Tour’s Asain Swing at the beginning of this year too which was 7 weeks.

It would seem that the Korda family is battling the absence of ‘Lady Luck’ on their side. For the younger Korda sister is not the only person who was met with the unfortunate fate of not being at one’s 100% to tee off at an event or to use the racquets.

Nelly Korda and her family’s tale of injury woes

It was the month of August, the time when Nelly Korda was battling a windy St. Andrews at the Women’s British Open when her sister was asked a curious query by one of her fans. A follower asked Jessica Korda when she would be back on the course to which she wrote on her Instagram story, “Currently rehabbing the back. Once I get most of my rotation back I’ll start hitting balls.” For those of you who don’t remember, the golfer suffered a back injury after falling down the stairs at the 2022 Chevron Championship. And since then, she has had an on-and-off relationship with the same.

Sebastian Korda, her brother, has also recently met with some injury issues. Back at the 2024 U.S. Open, he was seen struggling against Tomas Machac following which he lost the game. Since then, he had been taking a break from the sport only to recently reveal how the tennis star had undergone surgery. “I’ve been dealing with some elbow issues,” divulged the pro on an Instagram post. “And my team and I decided surgery was the best option. Everything went great, and I can’t wait to be back on court soon. Thanks for all your support!”

The fans of all three of these athletes would be hoping for a speedy and complete recovery of the sibling trio, including Nelly Korda. Regardless, they can only wait and watch as the three athletes take a break from the sport to work on themselves!
