Spiranac’s depression had gotten worse over the years and reached its apex when she was a senior in college. She described feeling low and not wanting to get out of bed. She stated, “[I] just didn’t want to deal with life anymore.”
Her antidepressants were only making things worse because Spiranac had not stopped drinking. Her breaking point was when she thought about taking her own life. She climbed onto the roof of a building in a parking lot and stared down, contemplating a jump. But she couldn’t do it.
Years later, Paige went through the same overwhelming feeling and wanted to take her own life. Just before her first game as a golf professional in Dubai, someone threatened to release Spiranac’s naked photo. The social media icon could not stomach the thought. She stated, “I locked myself in the bathroom, just trying to find anything I could to not deal with tomorrow.”
