LIV Golf is hosting its tenth event of the season at The Old White in Greenbrier. The golf world witnessed a stunning round 1 yesterday and is yet to get over it. One of the big names playing on the field is Brooks Koepka. But someone else might take that distinction from him pretty soon.
Recently, Koepka made headlines when he expressed his opinion on another player’s form and game. He was an unhappy captain and was not shy about stating that. Did his criticism work, or did he speak too soon? Let’s dive into the story and find out more.

At Greenbrier, all 48 participants are eyeing the $25 Million purse across player and team events. After Round 1 of the LIV Golf event, Matthew Wolff was at the top of the leaderboard. He shot 9-under-par 61 and took the lead. In his interview with Sports Illustrated, he was asked if his game in round 1 was a statement that there was still plenty of good golf left in him. To which Wolff replied, “I mean, I didn’t really feel like I needed to prove anything to anyone. Just to myself really.”
The official Instagram handle of LIV also shared his picture and captioned, “An incredible start to @matthew_wolff5’s first round at Greenbrier.”

Wolff continued: “But at the end of the day, it’s just golf. I mean, you play bad and then you play good. Like I said, I’m accepting the fact that just because I played well today, it might not go the same tomorrow or might go just as well.”

Recapping the LIV Golf Dispute
Brooks Koepka and his Smash GC teammate, Matthew Wolff, are at the center of the dispute. It is one of the first fights out of the LIV league. Koepka, as the team captain, spoke about his teammate Matthew Wolff. At the LIV Golf Events in Spain and London earlier this year, Wolff finished badly affecting the whole team’s performance. His performances did not sit well with the captain, and he told Sports Illustrated in July that he had given up on Matt. According to Koepka, Matt’s talent was being wasted.
