A divorce is not an easy thing to go through. One could experience both mental and physical strain because of it. Such was the case with the ex-wife of Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren, as she went through many hardships when she separated from the celebrity golfer.
“I’ve been through hell,” the former Swedish model said a couple of days before the court finalized her and Woods’ divorce. According to reports, Elin Nordegren, the mother of two, began losing hair because of the divorce and the stress she was under due to the intense, unforgiving media scrutiny she went through.

“It’s hard to think you have this life, and then all of a sudden… was it a lie?” Nordegren couldn’t help but question her life then. “You’re struggling because it wasn’t real,” she added. “But I survived. It was hard, but it didn’t kill me.”
How long did Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s relationship last?
Nordegren was 21, and Woods, 25, when they met through a Swedish professional golfer during the 2001 Open Championship. After dating for nearly 18 months, the golf legend proposed to her and got engaged in 2003. The couple got married in 2004 in a luxurious wedding in attendance of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jordan.

They even had two children, Sam Woods, born on June 18, 2007, and Charlie Woods, born on February 8, 2009. Soon after their son’s birth, Nordegren and the entire world got the news regarding a scandal involving Tiger Woods.
After the news broke out, Woods acknowledged and admitted to it by releasing statements through his website. Even though they tried to reconcile their marriage, the couple agreed to get a divorce. They filed for divorce, and the couple separated after 6 years of marriage in 2010.

Normally, couples often tries to avoid each other after getting a divorce. However, it is not how Woods and Nordegren’s relationship turned out after separating from each other.
Since they wanted the best for their children, the golfer and his ex-wife chose to co-parent their children even after their divorce. However, what is interesting in their relationship is that Woods considers his ex-wife one of his best friends. The golfer stated it in an interview with Time Magazine and confirmed it a year after when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as a guest.
