With his latest feat, the 5-time Masters champion has set his name alongside Fred Couples and Gary Player in the golf history books. Despite his struggles with injury, Woods’ tenacious nature has drawn great praise from fans and players alike. One golfer, in particular, who has heaped praises on the 15-time major champion is 56-year-old Jerry Kelly.

Jerry Kelly appeared on the latest episode of GOLF’s Subpar podcast, hosted by former pro-golfer, Colt Knost and his longtime friend, Drew Stoltz. When asked about his favorite Tiger Woods moments, the 3-time PGA Tour winner talked about “wanting to beat” a flawless Woods.

I was such a competitor wanting to beat him so bad,” shared Kelly. He also talked about the media’s role in adding to the fascination surrounding the 47-year-old golfer. “Everybody in the media kept on saying, you know, why are you guys so afraid of him? Why does he intimidate you so much.

Jerry Kelly shared that while he wasn’t intimidated by Woods, he still found the latter to be a flawless player. “He he didn’t intimidate us? Well, he didn’t intimidate me. But he played so flawlessly and even hitting the ball offline.

Woods’ Masters campaign came to an abrupt halt due to his struggles

Despite struggling with his injuries at the Augusta National, the golfing legend managed to register his record-tying 23rd cut on Saturday. However, his fans’ excitement was cut short as the golfer shared a disappointing update the very next day.

After days of heavy rain at Augusta, the golfer would have had to play 29 holes on a marathon Sunday. However, the physically struggling Woods took to Twitter to share that he had withdrawn from the tournament due to his aggravated Plantar Fasciitis. In his tweet, he also wished luck to the other competing golfers at Augusta.
