Leona Maguire, the talented golfer from Cavan, showcased her skill and determination at the Meijer LPGA Classic with a sensational second-round performance on Friday.

Her scintillating finish, which saw her unleash four birdies and one eagle in her last seven holes, catapulted her into contention for the tournament title.

The phenomenal putt she sinked for an eagle on the final hole was the highlight of her day in Michigan.

A video capturing her eagle putt quickly went viral on social media, leaving fans amazed. The putt, executed with near perfection, sailed smoothly from the fringes of the green before finding its mark to secure an eagle and firmly place Maguire in the T2nd position. The remarkable ball speed and precision showcased in this putt has indeed solidified Maguire’s reputation as a formidable force on the greens.

“The goal today was to take advantage of the par-5s, so did that a little bit better today,” she said after her round.

“Hit a bad shot on 10. That was a costly bogey. Kind of stopped my momentum for the front,” she went on to add.

Maguire made four birdies in a row from the 12th, rolling in a six-footer there before turning in another birdie from two feet at the 13th. What followed was a two-putt birdie at the 14th and a 10-feet birdie at the 15th.

“Hitting the fairway on 18 is key,” Maguire said. “The way the wind is blowing out of the left is quite hard. I can’t carry that bunker, so it’s hard for me to hit the fairway,” she added.

While Maguire has gone from strength to strength in the tournament, a few notable players like Lexi Thompson and Lydia Ko couldn’t hold their own and missed the cut.
