From Offaly to the United States of America, Shane Lowry’s golf journey has been one of inspiration as he has slowly risen to success in his career. Throughout it all, his wife, Wendy Lowry, and two daughters have supported the Irish pro. Seeing their father make a name for himself inside the ropes, have the two young girls also taken up golf?

Surprisingly, yes! The oldest daughter of Lowry, 7-year-old Iris Lowry, has been more passionate about the sport than the youngest, Ivy Lowry. In an exclusive interview with Beyond the Clubhouse, the 3-time PGA Tour winner revealed that his oldest daughter, Iris Lowry, plays golf once a week after coming home from school. As they live in a golf clubhouse in Florida, taking a cart to the course and playing with his daughter has been a breeze, Lowry reminisced in the interview.

On the other hand, Ivy has not been indifferent to golf either. In an Instagram story dating back to April 2024, Wendy Lowry revealed her “new life” as her 3-year-old daughter picked up her driver and tried to hit a few balls. Assisting her younger sister on the course, Iris became the looper for Ivy, making Wendy jokingly say, “Ivy on a mission,”  with her sister following her.

Moreover, Lowry’s children accompanied him to the Masters for the par-3 contest this year. And they turned out to be such natural golfers. Despite hundreds of people cheering and eyeing their game, Iris and Ivy did not budge as they enjoyed playing golf at Augusta National. As the two get more intrigued by the game, will Lowry push them a little to pursue golf in the future?

Will Shane Lowry convince his daughter to pursue golf?

After coming home from school, Iris Lowry usually plays golf for an hour before her mind gets distracted by other important things. Well, at the age of 7, she possibly cannot have a similar passion as her father. Yet, with whatever interest she has gained in recent years, Iris Lowry has been perfecting her swing.

Lowry relayed that during their practice session on the range, he videos her swing and then shows her later. Despite never asking or forcing her to play golf or learn it, Lowry stated that Iris has “actually got a pretty good swing, and you know she loves it [golf].” He expressed that it felt amazing, but he still doesn’t know if his oldest will pursue golf in the future.

Lowry said, “I would love if she was [into golf], but I’m certainly not going to push her. She can do whatever she wants to do. If golf was that, that would be great.” Iris might carry her father’s legacy once she turns the right age to pursue golf. But who knows, she might get interested in a different career, and the younger takes the baton. Nonetheless, as of now, both Iris and Ivy Lowry are following in their father’s footsteps with whatever little golf they play.
