How far can you go for friendship when it comes to helping them find a potential partner? Well, the LIV Golfer Pat Perez went all out to do this and helped his friend Danny Lee. Yes, it sounds surprising but the way Perez did this also comes with an interesting story that goes back to 9 years in the past from now.
Danny Lee won the 2015 Greenbrier Classic on the PGA Tour. Following the win the golfer jokingly revealed in a press conference “My one wish is that I had a girlfriend. It wouldn’t be so lonely in my room.” However, Pat Perez wasn’t convinced that Lee was joking about it and believed what his friend said was in “the saddest manner ever.” After that Perez took another step possibly to prank Lee and launched the email address FindDannyAGirl@gmail.com, as well as the #FindDannyAGirl Twitter hashtag.
He wrote on social media “asking any ladies up for the challenge to please chime in … and soon.” The situation was as hilarious as possible, and even the golfer started getting responses for his prank. That’s right. This prank continued for the next two years, eventually leading Danny Lee to meet Yoomi Kong through it. They grew fond of each other, and in 2017, Danny Lee married Yoomi Kong in Seoul, South Korea.

Danny Lee’s statement at the post-tournament conference wasn’t the only reason that Perez wanted Lee to have a girlfriend. Later, Perez also revealed that Lee used to spend around 13 hours playing Batman: Arkham Knight on the laptop. “Anything is better than seeing a fellow PGA Tour winner investing 13 of his daily waking hours on his laptop playing Batman: Arkham Knight before sacking out in a single and ordering room-service-for-one,” said the golfer as revealed on the Puna website.
Although Pat Perez did all this to support his unhappy friend, was it right for him to help Lee find a partner in this way? Only the current state of their relationship can answer that question.

How’s Danny Lee’s relationship with his wife?
Surprisingly, despite being a professional athlete, Danny Lee keeps his personal life very private. His wife, Yoomi Kong, is just as low-key, with no social media presence to speak of. Some reports suggest the couple now has two children, and they’re happily living a love-filled life. While Danny doesn’t share much about his family online, his X account’s cover photo is a sweet snapshot of his wife and kids—a rare glimpse into his world off the golf course.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Pat Perez's prank really help Danny Lee find love, or was it just a lucky coincidence?
Have an interesting take?
Danny, now 34, clearly admires Yoomi deeply. When asked about her, he once said, “She’s a great girl and smart. She is Korean and speaks Korean, which makes my parents happy… everything’s good.” Family is now at the heart of his life, even if he keeps it all close to his chest.
