One thing that truly sets Nelly Korda apart is her heartfelt gestures on the greens. Whether it’s thanking her family after her Ford Championship, celebrating new milestones, or showing appreciation for fellow players like Hannah Green, the world’s No. 1 golfer consistently stays humble. Even at the Chevron Championship, after a tough start in the first round, she continued to show that same gracious spirit.
Golf journalist Beth Ann Nichols shared this update on her X handle. She wrote, “World No. 1 Nelly Korda signing autographs after carding an opening 77 at the year’s first major.” It’s very tough for the golfers to keep their minds away from the game, and Korda displayed a bold move with her gesture. Not only that, she also took responsibility for her performance. After the round, she talked about it and said, “I just have to go work. I mean, I’m not hitting it well. That’s about it.” Although she was on the verge of tears, the golfer is hoping to bounce back in the following rounds.
The defending champion posted six bogeys in the first round and finished with a 77, 5-over par. Because of that, she was knocked down T115 and will have to go extra edge to come back from there. This was certainly a very unfavorable start. Korda was clearly disappointed and kept her head down for a while, and was on the verge of tears.

Interestingly, Korda is known for her strong determination on the greens. She also always manages to bring out something meaningful from her performance. Back in 2023, during the Honda LPGA Thailand, it was Lilia Vu who won the title. While she was unable to win, the golfer sure enjoyed her time and made some memories. She later expressed her gratitude, saying, “It was super nice to be back playing in front of amazing crowds after so many years!! See ya next time Thailand 🇹🇭♥️.”

Thanks to this gesture, she earned a lot of praise from the community with comments like, “Always a class act. You make me wish I had a daughter.” While this is certainly bold from Korda, this isn’t the first time she has gone the extra steps to provide a fan with an autograph.
Nelly Korda fulfilled a little girl’s wish
This story goes back to the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open. During the practice round at Lancaster Country Club, the 15x LPGA Tour winner impressed the fans with another ‘wholesome’ gesture. She met one of her biggest fans, who had been waiting for two years to get her autograph—and true to her humble nature, Nelly Korda made that dream come true! The girl even saved the top right corner of her board for Korda’s signature.

She said, “I’m trying to save this corner for Nelly because I have been waiting literally since the KPMG in 2022 to get her autograph. And I want to make sure I have a nice space for her. Nelly Korda is my very favorite golfer.” Witnessing her dream come true, her little fan was full of tears and bawled his eyes out. The US Open shared this video on Instagram, which, as always, has earned Nelly Korda a lot of love from the community.
