One of the major championships, the US Open 2023, had a thrilling ending, with Wyndham Clark emerging victorious. Even though the LACC is not a favorite course for many golfers and fans, many gave it their best. One of the most notable players who also shined the most is world number three golfer Rory McIlroy. His effort to close the nine-year gap and win his fifth major led to one of his most impressive performances on the course yet.
Eventually, of course, Clark outlasted him and took home his first major title. But surprisingly, that has not left McIlroy broken and dejected. In fact, it seems to have fueled the golf pro’s motivation, as he now looks to take on new challenges, including the final major championship of the year!

After a wild ride at the US Open, the golf world is getting ready for its final men’s major of the year: the Open Championship. And McIlroy is part of that excited bunch awaiting the event! The tournament will be held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in England from July 20–23.
At the press conference, a reporter asked the Irishman about his plan to play at Royal Liverpool. The Irishman responded by saying he would participate in both the Travelers and Scottish Open competitions. But getting ready to go to Liverpool is his top focus. “I’ll play Travelers next week; I’ll play the Scottish Open, but I’m focused on making sure that I’m ready to go for Liverpool,” said the 2011 U.S. Open winner.
The Open Championship was last held at Royal Liverpool nine years ago. At that time, McIlroy triumphed over Rickie Fowler by a margin of two strokes. All eyes will be on the 4-time major winner as he seeks to build on his electrifying 2014 performance and win for the second time. Unfortunately, the golf legend Tiger Woods sits on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to the year’s last major.
Tiger Woods’s disappointing update regarding the Open Championship
It’s terrible for fans that they won’t get to see one of the top golfers play this year. Due to his health difficulties, Woods withdrew from many majors. Fans, though, hoped to see him in the Open Championship, which he had previously won three times.
However, in recent updates, it has been confirmed that Woods will not participate in the Open Championship. One of the well-known Tiger Woods news feeds posted the information on Instagram.
