Despite Their Rough Split, Tiger Woods Revealed Reasons Behind His ‘Incredible’ Relationship With His Ex-Wife Elin Nordegren in 2016

Sharing a good relationship with your ex-spouse isn’t simple. However, Tiger Woods’ relationship with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren has only gotten better, since their divorce. In 2016, the 15-time Major winner, paid a visit to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he discussed how his ex-wife is now his best friend.

Woods and Nordegren got married in 2004 in Barbados. Nonetheless, their marriage came crashing down when Tiger’s cheating allegations became public in 2009, creating massive publicity for the couple. The former Swedish model ended up filing for divorce in 2010.

Years later, the couple share a great relationship. During an interview in 2015 with Time, Tiger shared that Nordegren is “One of my best friends.”

A year after the famous interview, the 46-year-old was invited to Late Show, where the host, Stephen Colbert, asked for more insights on Tiger’s relationship with his ex-wife. Let’s take a look at what the Hall of Famer had to say.

Tiger Woods’ bond with Elin Nordegren has only gotten stronger

During his visit to the Late night talk show, Woods talked about Call of Duty, the Tiger Woods Foundation, and much more. However, then Colbert asked about the golfer’s unique relationship with his ex-wife, “How is that possible?” asked the host, considering how it ended with Woods’ cheating allegations. He also claimed that the strong bond with Tiger’s ex-wife was more impressive than his 11-time PGA Player of the Year award.

Tiger Woods replied, “She’s been one of my best friends and I’ve talked to her about so many different things and she does the same thing with me. We go back and forth.” He further added, “We communicate so much better now, it’s incredible. I wish we would have done that earlier on, but it’s been incredible to have a best friend like that.”

The 15-time Major winner then elaborated that the ex-couple’s strong bond is perhaps for the sake of their children. Tiger shared that it all comes down to doing what’s best for their two children, Sam and Charlie. He concluded by saying, “And we love them so much that we are going to whatever it takes to make that work.”

Following their divorce, both Woods and Nordegren were publicly seen together several times with their children. Moreover, Elin Nordegren also shares a great relationship with Erica Herman, who is Woods’ current girlfriend. Perhaps, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s love for their children is what has gotten them closer as friends.
