Mark Rolfing, a notable golf commentator, has made Kapalua on the island of Maui his home for the past 42 years, along with his wife Debi. Recently, in his first interview after the devastating Maui wildfire, he talked about the conditions and the spirits of the residents.

“I think we are doing as well as can be expected. I am feeling really good about being here. […] The tragedy out there, Damon and Brandel, is unimaginable. You really can’t fantom it, especially if you live through it like I have,” he said.

He added, “The human spirit is an amazing thing. It’s a tremendous power. This community is going to survive it and we are going to thrive again one day. And I really believe golf is going to be a big part of that platform of recovery. That’s really as much as anything why I wanted to be here today.”
