If you’re just getting into golf, Rose Zhang is a shining star. When she won the Mizuho Americas Open in what was her first professional competition, the young phenom stunned everyone. She has become a fan favorite for sure thanks to her recent performances and the fact she broke Tiger Woods’ record of 27 years.

Zhang, however, was unable to perform her magic at the Dana Open. She fired a 6-over 77 in the second round, missing the cut by two strokes. This was definitely disappointing for her since this is the first time she missed the cut in her short professional career.

First LPGA Title for the Swedish professional golfer

Grant has had a great time so far on the course. She claimed four Ladies European Tour victories in 2022. She also made history by becoming the first female professional golfer to triumph at a DP World Tour event. But one important thing was consistently absent from her resume: an LPGA win. 

The 24-year-old golfer finally won her first LPGA championship on Sunday. At the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, she beat all odds to lift the trophy. Grant defeated US Open champion Allisen Corpuz by a margin of three shots. She received $262,500 for her stunning victory.

Her win was not a bed full of roses though. She experienced her fair share of strain and struggle. During her post-round press conference, she revealed all the pressure athletes have to go through. “It doesn’t feel like a cruise. Like, it’s terrible,” she stated. 

The pressure is immense on these stars to perform better and better. But how to cope with it totally depends on the players. These gestures make the athlete a shining star. Zhang will be respected all the more for it.
