Billy Walter’s book has recently been fuelling the betting allegations against ‘Lefty’ Phil Mickelson. Of late, social media has been abuzz with the numbers the book revealed. These numbers sum up the value that Mickelson has allegedly gambled with. The value goes up to a billion dollars, not considering the amounts he might have lost. 

Meanwhile, the 6-time championship winner has taken a positive direction with his time and efforts. He attended an event in Bedminster, representing his team, the HyFlyers. The event’s agenda was to assist a Non-Profit Organization in its attempt to support kids with golf aspirations.

The impeccable timing of the initiative – coincidence or strategy?

Adaptive Golfers is an organization aiding differently-abled children who want to play golf. The organization, founded by Gianna Rojas, arranges resources, equipment, clinics, and other aids for the kids to grow.

Phil Mickelson conducted one such youth clinic for the young golfers. His team went with a supply of LIV Golf caps and HyFlyers capes to encourage the kids. They interacted with the young golfers and observed their game, offering suggestions and tips.

One might presume that this event was an attempt to distract the golf community from all the talk about his gambling. However, it could also just be a coincidence. While this is definitely a noble gesture, it is not controversial enough to overshadow the betting allegations. At the end of the day, all we can do is play the guessing game with this.  

At the event, Mickelson spoke highly of the kids. He appreciated how the organization is supporting their game and personal growth. He also engaged in some fun banter with the kids.

“My superpower is crazy shots”: Mickelson reveals the ace up his sleeve

Mickelson, in a conversation with the kids about superpowers, confessed that his superpower was his ability to hit crazy shots. “I love to try to hit crazy shots that nobody else tries to do.” He added. 

The PGA Tour Pro asked the kids about their superpowers. Mickelson explained how the HyFlyers capes were about identifying each person’s superpowers. He believed that this could help them find what they are great at and what they struggle with on and off the golf course.

Gianna Rojas, the founder of Adaptive Golfers, is a golfer herself, known as the “One-Handed Lady Golfer”. She stated that there are many areas of the game that are challenging to people with special needs. Rojas explained how the organization is doing its best to make the game more accessible for the kids.
