The LPGA circuit has seen its fair share of rivalry on the course. It happens all the time. However, what transpired this time around was something that was in stark contrast with in-game feuds as Nelly Korda and her best friend engaged in banter with fellow America and Solheim Cup team-mate Rose Zhang.

Zhang has been nothing short of an exceptional golfer on course in the year 2023. Even so, the status given to the 20-year-old by the golf world was not enough to stop the current world No. 3’s BFF from putting “the rookie in her place!”

Amid the tensions of the patriotic showdown in Andalucia, it is quite natural for players to engage in some friendly competition of sorts amongst themselves. The US team saw just that as Megan Khang took to the course with the young 1X LPGA Tour winner for a small contest.

In a press conference ahead of the start of the biennial event, Khang was asked whether there was anything crazy going on, including bets or wagers on the match between the American teammates. Although not a bet of any sort, the 25-year-old was quick to point out how she won a one-hole match against The Mizuho Americas Open champ on the 18th.

Joining her in the victory was none other than her favorite teammate, the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship winner who shouted “Woohoo” in support of her best friend. Continuing on with her reply, Megan Khang, the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open champ, expressed how she “put that rookie in her place”, all the while hilariously taking a jab at the young golfer who is deemed no less than a prodigy on the course.

Korda and Khang have shown their fondness for each other many times in the past. Even in the lead-up to the Solheim Cup, they had done so.

The biennial event sees the teammates split into groups of two for foursomes and fourballs on the first couple of days. And, the professional from Massachusetts picked Korda as the golfer that she would like to pair up with while mentioning how they have been dying to play with each other since they made the Solheim Cup team for the first time.

The 1X major winner, Korda, also reciprocated the affectionate display by expressing her desire to play with her best friend. Moreover, the 8X LPGA Tour winner also went ahead to recount the duo’s Junior Solheim Cup days together all the while indicating how long they have been friends.
