In 2022, Bryson DeChambeau was one of the biggest names in golf to defect from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf. But since the highly controversial move, which was worth roughly $125 million, the 29-year-old pro has not yet registered a win in the Saudi-backed breakaway series.
After his latest T11 finish at LIV Golf London, DeChambeau’s wait for a win has been further extended. Regardless of the disappointing result, the “mad scientist” of golf will find solace in the brand-new record that he set on Sunday. Let’s dive in to find out more!

After being plagued by his hip injury last year, Bryson DeChambeau has had several impressive outings so far in 2023. He tied for 4th place at the PGA Championship in May, followed by a top-20 finish at the US Open. At LIV’s recent event in Valderrama, the California native came close to nabbing his first-ever LIV Golf win before being edged out by Talor Gooch.
On Sunday, at the Centurion Golf Club in Hemel Hempstead, DeChambeau accomplished another amazing feat by carding his 17th straight under-par round! Earlier, on Friday, he had tied with LIV’s Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed for 15 consecutive rounds under par, thanks to his opening round 70 (-1).

DeChambeau then went past Johnson and Reed in the second round of LIV London with his 4-under-par 67. Another 3-under 68 in the third and final round expanded his record to 17!
For his 11th-place finish, the major winner took home $340,000 in earnings. Australia’s Cam Smith, who won the London event, pocketed $4 million in the winner’s payout! Both Smith and DeChambeau will next appear at the upcoming British Open.
Cam Smith grabs his second LIV title in London
After rounds of 63 and 67, Aussie golfer Cam Smith shot a 68 on Sunday for a winning score of 15-under 198. Smith finished one shot ahead of runners-up Marc Leishman and Patrick Reed to claim his second win in 13 regular-season starts since joining LIV.

He even came within inches of winning the team competition with his all-Australian squad, Ripper GC. Had he not bogeyed the 18th hole on Sunday, Smith could have forced the first-ever team playoff in the history of LIV. Ultimately, the Dustin Johnson-led 4Aces GC ended up winning their second team title of the season at the Centurion.
Smith will now be heading up to Hoylake in a couple of days for the final major of the year. As the defending British Open winner, he will no doubt be drawing high hopes from his LIV London win!
