The two-time major winner, John Daly, has been one of those golfers who has been an idol for the golf generations after him. This includes his son, whom he named after himself, John Daly II, and lovingly calls ‘Little John’. Now that Little John has turned 21 and is about to take part in the Korn Ferry Tour as soon as his debut, will he find his father next to him?
Neither John Daly nor his son have officially notified anyone about the veteran golfer’s appearance at the KFT debut. However, given how supportive Long John has been of his son it suggests that the 58-year-old would most probably be present at the Compliance Solutions Championship at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman. However, John Daly has been reported to be in the field of Dick’s Sporting Goods Open at EN-JOIE Golf Club in Endicott, NY. This event will coincide with his son’s debut, and both will conclude on June 23.
The 58-year-old golfer had both his knees replaced and has also battled cancer in his lifetime. According to Club Classic, “His new right knee feels good; his left knee, replaced in December of 2022, is starting to feel stronger, but it might take three years in total to get to 100 percent.” Daly wears knee braces while playing. The golfer also injured his thumb at the 106th edition of the PGA Championship at Valhalla and hence withdrew. Despite his health issues, John Daly will be seen on the greens next week; if he were not playing himself, he might have gone to cheer for his son at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

The father-son duo has made several public appearances together before. Daly II has caddied for his father in the Celebration of Champions at the British Open, where the elder Daly helped Team Faldo win with his son beside him. At the PNC Championship 2021, the duo claimed the winning throne, surpassing Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie Woods.
John Daly’s presence at the KFT can be predicted by his usual reactions to being able to share the greens with his son. Daly has previously stated, “It’s just one of the highlights of my life.” He further added to his statement, “To be able to play in a PGA Tour event with your son and win, it’s pretty daggone special.”

John Daly II followed in his father’s footsteps and also went to the University of Arkansas, which his father attended from 1984 to 1987, on a golf scholarship. Little John, however, became a Razorback player and made John Daly immensely proud. He wrote on his X handle, “Proud of my son and so happy he became a #Razorback today! Today is their day!” Daly has always been extremely supportive of his son and also praised his golfing skills.
John Daly’s opinion about his son’s golf skills
According to Golf Monthly, Daly has already expressed how his son is on his way to surpass the elder Daly. He confessed, “I can’t keep up with him now. He hits it so far.” The proud father has also celebrated the balance that Little John possesses and requires for playing good golf. He reflected, “He doesn’t go quite past parallel like his pops, but if you look at his balance, the balance is unbelievable. His right leg never goes out, so he turns really good and his follow-through is so powerful.”

The 1991 PGA Championship winner also praised his son for being strong and able to get some great putts in. He said, “He’s so strong; that’s why he hits it so far. Every part of his body is working. I hit a couple of drives and some really good wedges (last year), but it was really all him. He hit some great putts.”
