The last couple of years were full of disappointment for Fowler. Not only was he visibly struggling at his game, but his OWGR ranking also took a huge dip. But with a sheer amount of hard work, he has now turned the tables and become golf’s latest hot topic.
This season, Fowler has achieved many extraordinary feats. From multiple top-10 finishes to setting the lowest ever round score of 62 at the US Open, the PGA Tour pro has come a long way from his slump. And with these stunning finishes and his recent victory, Fowler has also managed to boost his OWGR rank.
At the end of the year 2021, Fowler’s ranking had taken a hard hit, and he was 103rd on the charts. It only got worse when, in September 2022, his ranking fell to 185th, his lowest in over a decade. However, this year has been good to Fowler! Things began looking up for him, and by April 2023, he had climbed back into the top 100 to the 59th rank.
And now, thanks to a blockbuster performance last weekend, the golf pro has made it to the top-25 and is now ranked as World No. 23 as per the OWGR. This feat is certainly commendable and serves as a good boost to the Orange Crush fanbase too, who were undoubtedly sour after the Tour’s broadcasting blunder last weekend.
