The Ryder Cup fever is slowly gaining momentum. The golf community will be expecting a phenomenal clash between the two titans as they take to the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. Both teams are hoping to take home the trophy and at the center of the competition is none other than the American golfer Xander Schauffele.

The golfer has managed to take a step closer to his dream of lifting the cup. Moreover, Schauffele has come forward to make a surprising yet inspiring statement about the prestigious event. After pulling off an amazing couple of years, is he ready to bring glory to his country?

Schauffele might be in high spirits after his selection to the American team via the automatic qualifications. With a total of 9,450.269 points, he came in 6th in the US team Ryder Cup rankings thereby cementing a place for himself on the team. The golfer had much to say as he took to display his patriotism in an interview.

The 29-year-old opened up on how the squad is all set for the biennial event as he took to the Gravy & The Sleeze show. He went ahead to say, “Being a competitor, you want a taste of it” while expressing his ambitions for a victory on away soil. He continued to talk about his young team as he mentioned that the squad was “aware” of the stakes involved and “are ready to go get it.”

Xander pointed out how it was a nice box to check off this year since he was unsure of his selection in the team. The golfer was in and out of his place a lot of times throughout the season and was afraid of not being able to replicate his 2021 Ryder Cup appearance. But he finally made it to the squad as the team prepares to duke it out at Rome in a few weeks’ time.

Schauffele’s performance from 2022-23

The 29-year-old professional boasts a total of eighteen top-10 finishes under his belt in the last two years, including three wins in 2022 coming from the Genesis Scottish Open, the Travelers Championship, and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Moreover, the golfer was able to finish second a total of two times in 2023 at the FedEx Cup finale and the Wells Fargo Championship. It is thus not a surprise that Xander was able to ensure a spot on the team through his automatic selection.
