The Norwegian golfer made an appearance on a podcast hosted by The 73rd Hole on Tuesday evening. He was asked during the interview what he has learnt since his debut in 2021 when he played the Ryder Cup as a rookie to now in 2023, his second Ryder Cup appearance.
He smartly responds to the question, saying that he feels “team Europe has a slight chip on our shoulders. But at the same time, we’re playing at home…..we have not lost that home since 1993.”
He though feels that this puts additional pressure on the team to defend the cup even harder this year to maintain its track record of not losing at home. He also goes down memory lane to point out that when he was in college, the Ryder Cup was held in Europe and the atmosphere was extremely charged. He feels the fans on the home turf would really pump up the morale of the team players.
He concluded by pointing out that the last Ryder Cup he played was an extremely stressful one where every single shot felt like a life-and-death situation. He also admitted to not putting or chipping well at the last Ryder Cup he played. This year many legendary Ryder Cup golfers are missing from the scene.
