The American team made a mark on the European turf today after their remarkable win. Despite initial concerns about Lexi Thompson leading the American charge and the potential influence of the English crowd, the U.S. players maintained their focus and determination. The peak of this remarkable achievement came when Allisen Corpuz, the reigning US Women’s Open champion, sank the finishing putt, solidifying the historic clean sweep.

In the middle of this intense competition, European player Leona Maguire displayed impressive putting prowess in the latter part of her match. Although her exceptional performance couldn’t prevent the U.S. team from securing a surprising 4-0 clean sweep in the foursomes, her skills didn’t go unnoticed.

Jessica Korda, whose sister was one of Maguire’s opponents, was so impressed by Maguire’s matchplay abilities that she took to Twitter during the match and tweeted, “Leona is so good at matchplay it’s so annoying 😅.” This tweet acknowledged and appreciated Maguire’s impressive performance on the course.

Maguire and partner Anna Nordqvist began strongly, winning the first hole with a par as Nelly Korda faced water trouble on the par-four hole. However, the American duo (Korda and Corpuz) swiftly responded with a series of par-birdie-birdie performances, taking a two-hole lead from the third hole onwards.

Although Jessica Korda won’t be able to participate in this year’s Solheim Cup, she and her sister have teamed up with Whoop, a tech-based health brand, to create signature bands in honor of the prestigious golfing event. This collaboration holds a charitable purpose, as a portion of the proceeds will be directed towards supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota.
