Lexi Thompson, renowned for her remarkable drives and impressive distances, performed exceptionally well during the foursomes yesterday, earning praise from fans and fellow teammates.

She did not buckle under the pressure, maintaining her focus on delivering her best performance. US team captain Stacy Lewis also expressed strong confidence in Lexi Thompson. However, Lexi has encountered difficulties in four-ball play, making crucial chip shots that went awry.

One particularly embarrassing incident saw her attempt to hit the ball toward the pin from the fringe of the green, but it veered to the right of the green, rolling nearly 40 yards down to the rough fringe.

Fortunately, the chipped ball narrowly missed other players and caddies in its path. Such shots for up and down are clearly crucial in any match but even more so in a match play event like the Solheim Cup!

Debating Lexi Thompson: Team Asset or Potential Liability?

Lexi Thompson has been one of the LPGA Tour’s biggest stars for the past 12 years. However, she has faced challenges this season, missing the cut in 8 out of the 11 events she participated in.

In the past five Solheim Cups, her record stands at 6-6-7, contributing 9 1/2 points for the USA. In her last two appearances at the Cup, she managed to secure only 2 1/2 points out of a possible eight. Clearly, she earned her spot on the team due to her high world ranking, which adds an element of experience to the squad.

Despite having more experience than any other player in the field, her current form is not at its peak, and she could cost the USA team crucial shots that could make the difference between victory and defeat.
