Many admire the golf legend, Tiger Woods, for his great game of golf. And it’s not just his fans who idolize him, but pro golfers like Jordan Spieth look up to him as an inspiration. According to him, Woods is the best golf player, and people underrate him. In 2017, Spieth was number six on the OWGR for 26 weeks. So he knows what it takes and how much hard work is put into the sport to become the world’s No.1 golfer. 

Spieth respects the efforts of Woods as he was the world’s no.1 for 13 years, and Woods’ career graph amazed Spieth. Even though he won two majors in 2015, he knew that Woods would always be better than him. So once, he walked down the memory lane of the golf career of Woods and explained why he was underrated.

Tiger Woods – an underrated golf legend?

Appreciating Woods, Spieth said that the five-times green jacket winner could reach the top and stay there for a long time. When we arrive somewhere in life, we develop a mentality that we should keep doing whatever we did until then to remain in the same position.

But that, sadly, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. A subsequent person is always needed to push you further because the consistency somehow gets lost over time. Spieth said, “It’s easy just to sit there and say, ‘Oh, things are going well, let’s just keep doing what we’re doing.’ Stating the facts, he said that saying things are way easier than getting them done, and Woods does just that. He might fall back a bit, but he is so great that even his falling back is equal to winning. It’s hard to compete with an outstanding golfer like him.

The major championship winner’s capabilities mesmerized the 2015 FedEx Cup winner, Spieth. It was crazy how Woods reached no. 1, and he was constantly trying to get back to being no.1. According to Spieth“As a player who has reached that (No. 1) and is trying to get back there, I think he’s underrated.” That is why he’s the G.O.A.T.; he is incredible and deserves it.

Are Jordan Spieth and Woods on good terms?

Even though Spieth admires and respects Tiger Woods, they are still rivals. They both are trying hard to reach the heights of success in golf. But they do not have a bitter relationship; Woods gave Spieth a nickname, ‘Spiether.’

Woods loves giving nicknames to golfers, and the new one on the list was ‘Spiether.’ He revealed the nickname during an interview in Southern Hills at the 104th PGA Championship in May 2022.
