And now McIlroy’s recent finish at the Travelers Championship has earned him $650,000. This made him pass the barrier of $75 million last week, making him just the third player to earn that much. He is currently ranked third, but he is still lagging behind Tiger Woods, who is ranked first with $120,954,766, and Phil Mickelson, who is ranked second with $96,572,310.

Since Dustin Johnson is now banned from the PGA Tour and can only add to his totals at majors right now, it would be difficult for him to overtake McIlroy for third place. This is not the only accomplishment McIlroy made this week; at the Travelers Championship, he did something that elevated him to stardom. Keep going!

McIlroy’s first hole-in-one

By the time he was 25 years old, the Irishman had won four major championships and held the top spot in the OWR for 122 weeks. But one thing was always lacking in his illustrative career: a hole-in-one.

Finally, he accomplished this at the Travelers Championship last week. On the 214-yard, par-3 eighth hole of the course, the golfer made an ace. Tiger Woods hit his first hole-in-one when he was just 21 years old. In contrast, McIlroy had to wait roughly 16 years for that moment.
