Golf is a tough sport, wouldn’t you agree? The sheer amount of pressure of playing against so many talented golfers, all vying for a single title while battling treacherous weather conditions can take a toll on the mind. And, that’s the problem since golf is a mind game as much as an athletic sport.
However, the golfing community is big on supporting each other. Even though they cannot share information to help another golfer with his or her shot, they hold each other in high regard. Such is the case for JT who did not let his disappointing round bring him down.

Justin Thomas is one of the renowned golfers on the PGA tour and former world no. 1. Yet, in Royal Liverpool, he missed the cut by a mile finishing at T135 with an 11-over par after round 2. The unexpected delivery from JT instigated netizens to comment that he is overrated, to which Paige Spiranac came to his rescue. However, missing the cut at the 151st Open Championship at Hoylake on Friday meant he was watching the game from the comfort of his couch.
Despite being eliminated from moving on to the finals, Thomas had no ill feelings. In fact, he congratulated the maiden Major winner for his incredible performance. He also mentioned Brian Harman’s caddie Scottie Tway in his heartfelt felicitations on Twitter. “Dominant and poised victory for Harm and Scotty Tway. Handled the conditions, adversity, and nerves insanely well (from my vantage point on the couch). Congrats to Brian and his team, champion golfer of the year!” he wrote.
His congratulatory message also included Harman’s team. As a pro golfer, Thomas understands that the people behind the scene are just as important as the man who raised the Claret Jug.

His acknowledgment of the dire conditions at Royal Liverpool amid the rain and wind, coupled with the controversial comments made against Harman, was heart-touching. Justin Thomas himself has faced a lot of controversies this season but his winner’s attitude despite missing the cut is what wins the hearts of his admirers.
